Yesterday was the last day of potty training boot camp. Admittedly in the beginning I was skeptical that we would finish in just three days, day and night training...but I think he has it! He had 2 small pee accidents yesterday morning, and that was it. He has kept dry three consecutive naps and three consecutive nights in a row as well.
Andy and I have both noticed a change in his sense of self as well, he really is happy to be out of diapers and "feels" like a big boy, truly. He's asking to do more things independently, and has taken ownership of his potty needs. We don't ask him if he needs to go to the potty, just a few reminders throughout the day for him to tell us if he needs to go...this way he is in control.
This morning was our first true test. We are sure he has the potty down, but we have not left the apartment in three days, so the fact that we had church and swim lessons this morning was enough to make Andy and me a bit nervous. Nonsense, he did great. He made it to church fine, hit the potty before going into his class, had an accident-free class during church service, then another pit stop before swim class. In fact, he was annoyed to have to put on the swim diaper (required for this particular swim class). He made it home, through lunch and is into his nap without incident. Yes!
I am still a little bit in shock that my 26 month old is both day and night potty trained, but it's fabulous! No more diapers...well for 4 more months anyway when we start all over ;). Go Gabriel, you are awesome! Oh and go Andy, because you did all of the work!
