New York has been enjoying some beautiful spring weather this week, and today was no exception as we headed out to the 249th annual St. Patty's Day parade on 5th Avenue. New York hosts the world's largest St. Patty's parade, which stretches over 40 blocks and lasts 5 hours. Gabriel and I and Aunt Steph headed over to 5th ave a little after noon to see a bit of the parade.
Through a sea of green, we were able to sneak up to a good viewing spot and watch all of the bagpipes and marching bands. Gabriel seemed to thoroughly enjoy the loud bands (both bagpipe and marching), using his trusty pointer finger to point at everything while laughing. He also seemed to enjoy people watching and even attempted to "poke" quite a few of them...Steph and I had to be on poke patrol to keep him from touching everyone.
After the parade, we strolled through Central Park (Gabriel took a nap in his jogger), and then we walked all over the upper west side in search of some green beer...only one bar had some and it was not the kind of place I was going to take Gabriel into. So, we settled for an old favorite called Fred's. Andy met us there after he got off of work. It was quite a fun day! Here is the reel:
