On the Road Again

We headed out Sunday afternoon to start making our way to Charleston for a week at the beach. We decided to fly out of Harrisburg, PA both so we could see Jim and Laurel, and board the dogs for cheap :). We rolled into Harrisburg around 4pm Sunday and after Andy dropped off the pups, we headed to a petting zoo Laurel had found. SO fun...we could have spent hours there. We got there an hour before closing, so we had enough time to see some of the animals, and go into the petting/feeding area:

We spent the night with Laurel and Jim (and Reece...Gabriel LOVED their boxer!) and had a 1pm flight Monday. Gabriel has flown twice before (with me alone), so this time I was excited that Andy got to fly with him too...plus he is at a better age for enjoying the flight than when we was a smaller baby.

I just knew that we were going to get hassled through security with all the baby food and milk and what not...sure enough, they ran Gabriel's bag through 3 times, taking all of the contents out the 2nd and 3rd times (even cookie monster for goodness sake!). They tested all of his food, water and milk with their little chemistry kits, but then we were finally permitted to proceed to the gate.

Gabriel had fun wandering around the terminal. The first leg of the flight was in a very small plane (30 seats max) called a bombardier. Gabriel thought it was SO cool (so did Daddy!) He was very intrigued by the propeller, which was right outside the window. He got a little spooked right after we lifted into the air, but all in all seemed to enjoy it. He ended up falling asleep. We transferred in Newark to a much larger plane and made our way to Charlotte. Gabriel was very well behaved on the plane (thank goodness! I didn't want t be THOSE people with the kid on the plane!). He played with the magazines, the sun shade, the tray table, the seat belt, his toys, stickers, the napkins (he shred them up and stuffed thin his shoe?), our empty beverage cups, and of course he had some snacks.

My parents picked us up in Charlotte and we started our drive to meet Steph for our final leg of the trip to Charleston. We stopped in Columbia for a bite to eat at Chick-fil-A (man I miss that place) and then headed on down to get settled in for the night at Stephanie's. A very long travel day, but Gabriel was a real champ!
