We had quite a busy day last Saturday, but all the excitement of Sunday's race, and getting on the road to travel to SC, prevented us from posting the pics from the day. The Unified Bouldering Championship was being held in Central Park, for the first time ever. We have not rock climbed since college, but still maintain an interest in the sport...the really good climbers are impressive to say the least. We were also informed that climbers are trying to get rock climbing admitted into the Olympics, which I personally would tune in to!
As soon as Gabriel woke up from his nap, we loaded up the jogger and headed out for a run down to the site of the championship, and although the crowd made us feel a bit old we enjoyed seeing some great talent. Seriously, these people have some arachnid DNA woven into their beings, it was incredible to see them hanging upside down but not falling off! Gabriel, to be honest, was only mildly interested. He became more interested in gathering sticks, and attempting to climb the surrounding fences and trees. Maybe he felt inspired :)
After hitting up the expo around the event, we headed over to the park's conservatory lake to see the boats and ducks...Gabriel wanted to get in the water badly, but sadly this is not that kind of lake. Still, we all enjoyed toodeling around the water for a bit.
Time to finish up our run, so we headed home to get ready for a dinner picnic, our last outing for the day. The Great Lawn was a bit crowded when we first arrived but soon began to clear out, and the weather was perfect. We were fortunate to share our picnic time with some friends of ours, so the kids got to play and the adults got to catch up. We literally stayed until they kicked us out of the park, such a nice end to a fun day!
