Back Home!
We finally arrived back in NYC around 9:30 Sunday night - what a beating. All in all it took us 21 hours and 3 days to make a 12 hour 1 day trip. Wow. We are seriously considering flying next time! Poor Gabriel was so tired of being in the car. He actually slept a good bit on the last leg Sunday, but traffic on the turnpike was horrendous, so it ended up taking 8 hours from DC to New York. I'm just glad we made it make safe and sound; it feels good to be back home where we can get back into a routine and enjoy the rest of our summer. Both of our leaves are about to expire, so we just have two more weeks to enjoy before heading back to work. Boo.
3 Months!
Gabriel was 3 months old on Sunday. We still have these mixed feelings where it has gone by so quickly, but also it feels like we've always had him. Weird. Anyway, Gabriel is growing like a little weed. We took him to the doctor yesterday for a check-up on his acid reflux (which turns out is not the problem) and he weighed in at 12 pounds 3 ounces (24th %'tile) and 25 1/2 in long (93rd %'tile). The doctor said she is pleased with his progress, especially since he has been so consistent with his growth so far. When we explained all that had transpired since she prescribed the Zantac syrup, she agreed that the symptoms would have returned once we took him off of it if it really were acid reflux (he was only on it for 4 days before we stopped under suspicion that it was the tummy time responsible for his improvement). She assured us that it was fine to continue his daily naps on his tummy and also suggested that we try his through the night sleep on his tummy as well since it agrees with him so well (plus we bought the Angel monitor for peace of mind, which has helped tremendously).
As of three months Gabriel is able to hold his head up and look around quite a bit; he can push up on his elbows while on his tummy and look around; he can sit up assisted and is really trying to sit up himself every time we have him in our laps; he found his thumb about 2 weeks ago and sucks on it while he is sleeping (still does not prefer pacifiers); he rubs his eyes when he is sleepy; he continues to have increased alert/happy time and shows signs that he recognizes faces and voices, as well as his own name; he enjoys looking at and batting at objects above his head; he's rolled over a few times, although I haven't witnessed it yet so he's not actively rolling around, just a few times in his sleep from tummy to back or vice versa...that's all I can think of right now :)
First Pair of Running Shoes!
As previously blogged, we bought Gabriel is first pair of running shoes at an outlet en route home over the weekend, the Nike Dart V. We just could not resist. We also bought him a pair in the next size up for later on. I'm still acquainting myself with infant milestones, so I'm not sure what size his foot should be at 3 months, but he's in a size 2 now and it looks so big on his foot, but the size 1 is too small (?). Of course Gabriel will never run in these, but he's cute in them all the same.
Trip in Review:
We had a wonderful time on our two-week trip in SC visiting friends and family. It was fun to have so many people meet Gabriel; he had lots of visitors over to greet him. We only took him out once to see my Granddaddy (his Great Granddaddy), but the rest of the time we were fortunate enough to be able to relax at my parents house and have people come over and visit for a while. Below is a slide show of our entire time and everyone Gabriel got to meet :)
