We signed Gabriel up with a place here in the City called Super Soccer Stars (SSS) that runs soccer classes from 2yrs+...Gabriel is almost 2 so they allowed us to register him and this morning was his first class! He had a blast! There are only 4 kids in his class and 2 coaches, so they receive a lot of individual attention (which if you've ever watched 2 year olds participate in any class you know they need a lot of attention/direction!).
Obviously at this age they will not be playing any soccer games, but SSS has set up the class for them to learn the basics rules (i.e. you can't touch the ball with your hands) and basic coordination (tipping over and uprighting cones with your foot, hopping over obstacles, kicking the ball into a net, etc.). I have to say Gabriel did very well, he listened to his coaches and was able to perform each of the coordination skills. I am really looking forward to seeing his development throughout this 8 week class. Andy played quite a bit of soccer when he was a kid, so I guess Gabriel is getting a head start on following in those foot steps :)
