We took a day trip to PA yesterday to see Laurel and Jim and go apple picking. We typically go apple picking North of the City in NY, but decided to try out an orchard in PA...we also wanted to take Gabriel to a zoo that has a safari tour.
The apple picking was a bit of a bust; the orchard was a lot smaller than the one we go to. A lot. They only had 2 rows of apples to pick from :). But Gabriel liked the cows and the plethora of squash and gourds. In fact he found one particular gourd he loved (called a goose) and drug it all around...even tried to feed it to the cows.
He loved the safari tour, which was in an old school bus that had the top removed. We got to see all kinds of cool animals up close and personal. Literally, they come right up to the side of the bus and you can pet them and feed them. Trust me, it is definitely their natural habitat...as one little boy put it "look he's riding his horsey" (talking about 2 llamas...enough said!)...
And of course a day would not be complete without a trip to the playground no matter where you are, so Jim and Laurel took Gabriel to a really cool one while Andy and I ran a few errands while we were in the 'burbs and had the car :). It was a long full day and we did not get back until after midnight, but it was a lot of fun!
