Empire State Bldg Run & Winter Jam & The Super Bowl

I find that my time available for blogging is diminishing by the day. Clearly. An active baby paired with continued computer woes makes staying in touch via the blog feel like a herculean effort. So, here are three posts crammed into one: the rest of the update on Andy's Empire State building run, Winter Jam in Central Park, and a little fun we had with the super bowl...

Last Tuesday, as the previous post touched on, Andy raced in the annual (invitational) Empire State Building run up. About 300 runners pool at the bottom of the tallest building in Manhattan and at the gun, race up 86 flights of stairs as fast as they can. Yes, I said 86 flights. I know, I think he is crazy too. Gabriel and I got a guest pass up to the 61st floor where they had a little reception area for the runners and their families. It was a beautiful view of the city, and Gabriel enjoyed sitting up in one of the windows and playing. Andy completed the race in 14:55. My mom was in town, and her and Steph sweet talked their way through security to join us up on thr 61st floor. It was a really neat, although strange, race to be a part of:

This past Saturday, we took Gabriel to an annual event in Central Park called Winter Jam. All kinds of tents and activities are set up in Central Park including a snow board competition, rock wall, sledding, etc. Naturally Gabriel is a bit too young to really enjoy the festivities, but we stopped by for a few fun moments in the snow. We did have to end up running home because the wind picked up and it got really cold, we had to get Gabriel back inside. We were frozen by the time we got home, but it was nothing a big mug of hot chocolate couldn't fix. Apparently we were worried for nothing, Gabriel fell asleep in his jogger (which is outfitted with a wind/rain cover).

And finally, just for fun, Andy and Steph and I hung out for the super bowl and placed bets on which commercial would be the funniest. Here are the winner and loser, respectively:

Andy guessed one of the E-trade commercials and won Jelly Beans...

Steph chose the Coca-Cola/Simpsons commercial and had to take home this cheerleading bear and a sign that said "Loser" (hehe)
