Road Trip to Philly

Some good friends of ours have boys near the same age as ours, and they are the same friends we go to the Columbia basketball games with. All four boys love playing together and since NYC has winter recess this week, we decided to take a road trip to Philadelphia, just the moms and kiddos! Four boys (ages 3, 4, 5, 6) and two moms!

We booked a hotel in Philly that had an indoor pool, because you know half the fun of a road trip for little kids is playing in a hotel swimming pool. We also planned to take them to the Please Touch Museum, which is like a children's museum, only way better!

We packed up and headed out Thursday afternoon and hit I-95 South to Philly. New York and New Jersey traffic were gracious to us so we made it there in 2 hours without any problems. As soon as we got to the hotel, after behaving so nicely in the car, all four boys just went bonkers! Which was fine, that's why we brought them here. An instant wrestling match turned pillow fight ensued on the hotel beds. We only had one bloody incident, haha.

After a good romp in the room, we all suited up for the pool. The ambient temperature around the hotel was freezing for some reason, even though it was single digits outside, but thankfully the pool water was like a bath. We swam for an hour, then froze to death traveling back to the hotel room and promptly threw all four boys swimsuits and all in a warm bath! Katie and I were freezing trying to run around and get the boys warm, but Rocco, Bo, Gabriel and Judah were just fine (and silly of course). We ordered pizza, watch some basketball of course, and headed to bed. I have to say, sleeping between a 3 and 5 year old in a double bed is not the best night's sleep I have ever gotten.

Friday morning, we got up and had a quick breakfast in the room then headed back down to the pool to freeze, er, I mean swim and have fun. Back up at the room, we showered and warmed up (never mind soap had not actually touched any of the boys), then packed up to leave for Please Touch. It was so cold outside that many schools were either canceled or on a delay, which meant the museum was not packed! We enjoyed the carousel first, then hit the water play area, the Alice in Wonderland area (where Judah got lost for about 15 minutes at one point!), the construction area and super market area, then lunch in the cafe, back to more transportation fun, space fun, and science fun! After nearly 5 hours it was time to go. We piled back in the car and headed back to New York. Such a fun trip with friends! (PS - I want to remind myself when I go back and read this about "baby suit" which is what all of the boys thought Katie said when she said I was wearing a "bathing suit", so they all chanted "baby suit baby suit!" and thought they were hilarious!)
