Syllables!!

Gabriel has a pretty good repertoire of vocabulary, but the majority of his words are a single syllable (book, up, down, ball, egg, dog, please, truck, etc, etc). Out of the blue yesterday, he started spouting off two syllable words and two word phrases, in Ikea of all places! We were hunting for a few space saving solutions (per usual!) and stopped to have lunch in the Ikea cafe (love that place), and Gabriel said all of the following within a few minutes:

meatball
mac cheese
more please
apples

He was SO proud of himself, grinning from ear to ear while banging his hands on the table. Later that afternoon, Andy called him a stink-a-roo and he replied "stink ROO!". Precious.

I read that 18-month old kids can understand around 200 words, even though they can only speak a few. I guess he is beginning to convert those words that he understands into words he can voice. Sentences, here we come...
