This is one of my most favorite events in the city, when the NY Philharmonic plays a summer concert series. The entire Great Lawn portion, which spills over into the periphery, is filled with New Yorkers on picnic blankets enjoying a dinner picnic while listening to fantastic music. It can get a little crazy, however, especially with kiddos. We've always made it a point to arrive early and stake out a spot, often meeting up with friends (this can get dicey and territorial, but really it is a fabulous event!), but this year we decided to go super low key and provide a way for a quick exit. We brought our dinner picnic to the Pinetum area just West of the Great Lawn, where it is much less crowded, the music can still be heard quite well, and the boys can run. It's not much of a picture to look it, but it was a great family memory :) I love sharing things with the boys that we enjoyed before we were parents.
